Exhibit:
In the Main Gallery - X Country
June 7 - July 19
Two professional artists combine their artwork in an exhibition of sculptural pieces on display in ArtWorks! Main Gallery. Derek Harding of Fall River, MA and Gerald Weckesser of Southern California met over ten years ago while living in New Bedford and working in separate areas of study at UMASS Dartmouth's College of Visual and Performing Arts. This exhibition is called "Cross Country" because each of the collaborative works were started in one artist's studio and then shipped across the country for the other artist to complete.

In the Sarah Louise Cousins Gallery - A New Perspective On Politics
This juried exhibition features the work of 16 artists from 6 states. The work highlights artists' renderings of a wide array of political figures including Barack Obama, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and many more. The work was submitted by the artists for selection in the exhibit and selected solely on its artistic merit.
In the Community Gallery - Seeing Into the Future
ArtWorks! brought local artist Annie Hayes together with students at the New Bedford Global Charter School. The eight girls, ages 10-12 are members of the YWCA's "Teen Talk" after school program.
Annie Hayes introduced the students to many aspects of this year's presidential election and how a national election affects our lives. She led the students through a hands-on workshop where the students used their own fingerprints to create representations of how each girl feels the U.S. will change with the election of a new president. The works on exhibit are abstractions of the fingerprints, with personal messages intertwined for the new president.
