"The Art Connection is a nonprofit organization that seeks to enrich under-served communities by expanding public access to original works of art. Our art donation and placement program is like a "museum without borders" as it places the work of donor artists on the walls of community service organizations. In their new environments, art stimulates dialogue, creativity, learning and healing."

Everything’s Coming Up Arts

The City of New Bedford will support a wonderful opportunity for artists, arts organizations and cultural organizations to join in a collaborative effort to create a significant public art mural effort for Union Street between Purchase and Pleasant Streets.

unionst hole

The City of New Bedford will construct a sturdy plywood wall to replace the chain link fence and tattered tarps that currently cover the vacant space formerly occupied by the Keystone building.

This is an invitation to submit an original design for a portion of the complete mural, to be completed and installed along the front of the former Keystone Building on Union Street by December 2010. ArtWorks! is seeking a minimum of five designs and welcomes many entries from artists and organizations to be integrated into one project.

Goal: The completed mural will reflect the interpretation of the theme of “Everything’s… Coming Up Arts”. Based on the success of the historic artist mural on William Street, the project seeks to create one large mural that captures an overview of the vibrant New Bedford arts and culture scene. We strive to include ALL artistic disciplines within the project.

Submission deadline : October 8th 2010.
Design proposals can be submitted digitally or on hard copy.

All submissions must be professionally presented

PRIZE
Designs selected for inclusion in the mural will be awarded a $50 stipend
and recognition during the dedication celebration. All designs will be displayed in the ArtWorks! gallery. The winning designs will be featured on ArtWorks! website.
